An interactive panel discussion centered around social equity, justice and inclusion in the built environment with a focus on community health, wellness, and well-being in Portland Parks & Recreation’s new North Portland Aquatic Center project.
The discussion will highlight successes found in Portland Parks & Recreation’s recent park projects, and their equitable approaches to engaging diverse communities throughout Portland to deliver cherished assets. Balancing sustainability requirements and goals with long-term operational success while addressing the demanding energy, water and ventilation needs of an aquatics facility will also be discussed. PP&R, their community engagement consultant, and Scott Edwards Architecture will dive into the project’s goals, process, and outcomes derived from years of planning and community engagement to deliver a state-of-the-art community asset that is a true reflection of its community that will serve diverse user needs for generations.
