Tour of Peaceful Villa

Join Bora Architecture and Interiors for a guided tour of Peaceful Villa, a 170,000 square foot, 166 unit affordable housing community in Southeast Portland serving residents earning below 60% of Area Median Income. Attendees will walk the community room, courtyards, and representative units to see universal design, all electric systems, and fire and life safety strategies carried from planning through construction. The tour highlights the health, safety, and welfare decisions that shape daily life for residents of all ages and abilities.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify universal design strategies at Peaceful Villa, including reach ranges and hardware exceeding ADA and ICC A117.1 minimums, that support safe, independent use by residents of all ages and abilities.

  • Explain how site orientation and courtyard layout, planned to optimize solar access and minimize summer heat gain, support thermal comfort and reduce heat related health risks for occupants without mechanical cooling reliance.

  • Identify how the project's solar PV system and all electric, fossil fuel free design reduce combustion byproducts and associated indoor and outdoor air quality risks for residents and the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Recognize how affordable housing design decisions, including durable finishes, unit layout, and shared amenity spaces, support mental health and community wellbeing for residents earning below 60% of Area Median Income.
