A Holistic Approach to Community-Based Healthcare Design in Non-Urban Locations examines opportunities for architects to incorporate holistic, contextualized solutions into community health center projects. Attendees can expect to learn about the role spaces like these often serve in non-urban communities, including places promoting wellness, education, and gathering, as well as resilient facilities designed to resist, accommodate, and recover from climate hazard effects in a timely and efficient manner. The presentation will share how community engagement, flexible programming, and culturally informed decisions result in stronger designs. The conversational discussion will use project examples and current research to demonstrate approaches to community-based healthcare spaces that maximize potential and longevity while creating a whole-person health resource and facility that serves people in forward-thinking ways.
